PETALING JAYA – Former MCA central committee member Tan Chong Seng is challenging Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong for the party presidency next month.

Both Wee and Tan, who is also former Kuala Selangor division chief, submitted their nominations at Wisma MCA today.

Wanita MCA chief Wong You Fong, meanwhile, will be going up against former Wanita secretary-general Datuk Ooi Siew Kim to defend her post.

Party deputy president Datuk Mah Hang Soon and Wanita MCA deputy chief Tee Hoo Ling remain as both positions are uncontested.

Seven candidates are vying for the four vice-president positions: Datuk Lawrence Low, Datuk Nicole Wong Siaw Ting and Pamela Yong, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Datuk Lim Ban Hong, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, and Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng.

Three candidates are contesting for the Youth chief post, while 48 candidates are going for the 25 central committee positions.

Polling for the Wanita and Youth wings will be on September 23, and the MCA central committee polls will be held the next day.

A total of 5,089 central delegates and 52,736 divisional delegates will be involved in the party polls. – The Vibes, September 11, 2023
