PETALING JAYA - Police are investigating an incident which went viral recently where a toddler was seen playing on the road without adult supervision.
The incident came to light when dashcam footage was uploaded on social media which showed a car nearly hitting the child.
Thankfully, the driver managed to brake in time to avoid hitting the toddler.
The footage made it to Twitter and has garnered much criticism from users of the social media platform.
The toddler was on his bicycle and was playing on the main road with no visible supervision.
In a statement, Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said police managed to track down the location of the incident in Kampung Semarang, Dengkil.
They also managed to trace the toddler's family and found that the two-year-old boy is the youngest of four and lives with his parents.
He said the parents were believed to have been monitoring their child during the near-hit incident and that their house was about 70 metres away from the main road.
"However, the boy was fast on his toy bike and the parents weren't able to stop him in time before he hit the main road," he said.
Wan Kamarul Azran said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 3(1) of the Child Act 2001 for negligence. - The Vibes, October 31, 2023
