KUALA LUMPUR – Following the announcement of the second Movement Control Order (MCO) in January, the Malaysia TowerRunning Association and Italian company Technogym Malaysia made the difficult decision to postpone Soh Wai Ching’s TNB Record Breaking Night.

However, the good news is the event is now scheduled for April 9, 2021 from 7 - 10pm.

Following Wai Ching’s success in breaking the Guinness World Record for Greatest Vertical Height Stair Climbing in One Hour (Male) in 2020, he proceeded to take his next challenge to the Malaysia Book of Records.

In partnership with the leading Italian company in equipment and digital technologies for fitness, sport and health, Wai Ching will be aiming for a hat-trick of titles - ‘Fastest Time to Achieve the Height of Petronas Twin Towers on a Stair Climb Machine’ (in under 25 minutes*), the ‘Most Number of Steps Achieved on Stair Climb Machine in One Hour’ (over 4,500 steps*) and the ‘Fastest Time to Achieve 1000m on a Stair Climb Machine’ (under 45 minutes*).

On the April 1, Wai Ching did a trial run at Technogym’s showroom in Bangsar, and although he was just a nip and tuck away from his target, he is confident of achieving it with the support of the crowd on the actual day.

“Although I didn’t achieve (the goal) last night, I remain confident of reaching the target. I believe with crowd support, I will be able to do it, definitely,” Wai Ching told The Vibes when asked about achieving his goals.

For Wai Ching, the cheers from the crowd at the final stages will be extremely beneficial in achieving the targets, particularly when it comes to the third and last record.

In the meantime, Wai Ching will not only continue his training but also planning his mealtimes accordingly.

“I need to test the meal prep for the actual day - at what time I need to eat and drink prior to the record-breaking attempt next week.

“And I need to tune my mind, get into the zone prior to my attempt to break the records,” said Wai Ching.

The actual run will be held at Technogym Experience Centre KL and The Vibes looks forward to witnessing Wai Ching’s climb into the Malaysia Book of Records. - The Vibes, April 2, 2021
