QATAR – The blind and visually impaired will have the opportunity to experience the 2022 World Cup as the Qatar Foundation is offering live audio descriptions throughout the tournament.
Four presenters comprising students and graduates of the Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation at Hamad Bin Khalifa University will speak in both Arabic and English during the opening and closing ceremonies of the tournament.
Meanwhile, 19 other presenters will participate in providing the service during the matches.
In accordance with the Qatar Foundation’s commitment during the Arab Cup, these services will be available throughout matches in support of Qatar Foundation’s commitment to inclusiveness and accessibility.
The audio description by the presenters will cover every detail during the matches.
This includes the directions of the game, how the players move and all audible sounds in the stadium.
The services will help create a complete picture that allows the blind and partially sighted football fans to experience the match like the others.
