KUALA LUMPUR – Top national men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik have finished runners-up at the Super 750 India Open today after losing to China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang in the final.

Malaysia’s world-number-three ranked pair started the match well and swiftly took the first game 21-14.

However, the Chinese pair proved to be strong opponents and claimed the remaining two games 19-21, 18-21.

Today’s loss is the Malaysians’ third consecutive defeat to the Chinese duo following their meetings at the French Open and Indonesia Masters last year.

Wooi Yik admitted that although they gave their best, the Chinese pair had the edge in speed, reported Bernama.

The Malaysians said they would not let the setback unduly affect them as they continue to focus on the events ahead and their preparations to qualify for next year’s Paris Olympics.

“It’s important to keep believing in ourselves,” Aaron said. – The Vibes, January 22, 2023
