KUALA LUMPUR – Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh asked the federal government to consider maintaining the ministry’s budget for the next two years.

Speaking at the National Sports Awards 2021 today, Hannah said this is so that the ministry could ease into their preparations for upcoming major international multi-sport events, including the Hangzhou Asian Games and Paris Olympic Games.

“I already whispered to the prime minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) earlier, the budget for this year and next year must not be cut because we have the Olympics coming up,” she said during her speech at the award held at National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil, here.

Hannah added that through the concept of Malaysia Madani mandated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, she also urged relevant parties to work together to continue to steer the country toward its glory on the world stage to obtain its first gold medal.

Echoing the Segambut MP, Anwar said he will hold a discussion with the Finance Ministry next week. – The Vibes, January 31, 2023
