AN Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft accidentally dropped a tank on a residential property in the town of Pichhore, Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday. The incident destroyed two rooms in the house and damaged a nearby parked car, according to local media reports.

The IAF confirmed the mishap in a statement, saying: “The IAF regrets the damage caused today to the property on the ground, near Shivpuri, by the inadvertent drop of a non-explosive aerial store from an IAF aircraft, and has instituted an inquiry into the incident.”

The house belongs to Manoj Sagar, a local schoolteacher, who was eating with his children at the time, while his wife was in the kitchen. They were unharmed despite the powerful impact, which created a crater estimated to be 8 to 10 feet deep, reported news agency PTI, citing local officials.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the drop, and the air force has pledged to take necessary follow-up actions. - April 26, 2025
