UN to host rescheduled Israel-Palestine two-state conference at end of July
Meeting seeks to reignite momentum for a political resolution to the long-standing conflict, amid renewed international calls for concrete diplomatic steps - July 12, 2025

AN international conference aimed at reviving efforts for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict will now be held on 28 and 29 July at the United Nations headquarters in New York, diplomatic sources told AFP.

AFP reported that originally scheduled for mid-June, the conference was postponed at the last minute following Israel’s military strikes on Iran. The new dates have now been confirmed, though it remains unclear whether the agenda or the level of diplomatic representation will be revised.

The initiative is being organised by the UN General Assembly and co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. The meeting seeks to reignite momentum for a political resolution to the long-standing conflict, amid renewed international calls for concrete diplomatic steps.

During a recent state visit to the United Kingdom, French President Emmanuel Macron urged France and the UK to formally recognise the State of Palestine together, calling it “the only hope for peace in the region”. - July 12, 2025
