JAKARTA – An e-hailing delivery rider’s son died after eating a poisoned iftar (breaking of fast) meal sent by a woman with a grudge against her former lover.

Nani Aprilliani, 25, sent chicken satay laced with cyanide to her former lover Tomy through a Gojek rider named Bandiman.

Police Criminal Investigation Department director-general for Bantul, Yogyakarta, Burkan Rudi Satria, was quoted by local media as saying that Tomy’s wife refused to accept the food delivery as she was unfamiliar with the sender. Bandiman then took it home for his son and wife.

Bandiman’s son, Naba Faiz Prasetya, 10, vomited after consuming the satay and was taken to hospital but died while receiving treatment.

In investigations into the incident on April 25, police arrested the female suspect, who hails from Majalengka in West Java, last Friday, said Burkan.

He added that, based on police investigations, the motive for the incident was revenge, as Tomy had married someone else, angering the suspect.

Nani is suspected of having bought the chicken satay before lacing it with poison, then asking Bandiman, who was resting at Jalan Gayam, Yogyakarta, to send it to Tomy’s house in Bantul. – Bernama, May 3, 2021
