KUALA LUMPUR – Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd has declared a 4.6 sen per unit income distribution payout for its flagship unit trust fund Amanah Saham Bumiputera for the financial year ending December 31, 2022.

The wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd said the payout comprises a dividend of 3.35 sen per unit and a bonus payment of 1.25 sen per unit.

On top of this, ASB also announced an additional bonus of 0.5 sen limited to the first 30,000 units per account holder.

In total, ASNB said RM8.9 billion in income distribution will be paid out, and will benefit 10.6 million unit holders.

The latest payout takes the fund’s cumulative income distribution and bonus to RM177.4 billion since its inception in 1990.

The 3.35 sen per unit dividend announced this year is the lowest in history, compared to 2020’s rate of 3.75 sen per unit, while the overall income distribution payout of 4.6 sen is the second lowest ever.

In 2020, the figure stood at a low of 4.25 sen per unit.

Last year, ASNB declared a total payout of 5 sen per unit, comprising a dividend of 4.25 sen and bonus payment of 0.75 sen.

The highest-ever payout rate was recorded in 1990, during the first year of ASB’s launch, where a 14 sen per unit income distribution was declared.

Meanwhile, ASNB said transactions at all of its branches and agents, including on digital platforms and internet banking, have been temporarily suspended from today until December 31.

“Unit holders can resume their transactions through ASNB’s portal and mobile application beginning January 1, at any of its branches and agents starting January 3.” – The Vibes, December 12, 2022
