ARNOLD Schwarzenegger, has teased viewers with cameos in The Expendables and Terminator sequels. Nearer to the present, however, he's following fellow action legend Sylvester Stallone's example into the realm of episodic series with Fubar, which is set to premiere on Netflix next month.
Schwarzenegger will also play the leading role in Breakout, an action thriller from Scott Waugh, who is also directing the upcoming Expendables 4.
According to Deadline, the 75-year-old will play the role of Terry Reynolds. The plot of the film reads: “when his stepson, Daniel, is framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign country, Reynolds makes a daring jailbreak to save him and must overcome an overzealous prison warden in a race against time to avoid capture and flee the country.”
This film will follow a four-year hiatus that Arnold had taken after Terminator: Dark Fate failed to meet box office expectation, even with James Cameron and Linda Hamilton attached to the project
Breakout goes into production in Eastern Europe later this year. The writer of the current original Apple series, The Last Frontier, Richard D’Ovidio is attached as screenwriter.
The director, Scott Waugh, is known for action films such as Act of Valor and Need for Speed. The upcoming Expendables 4 is reportedly Sly’s last outing in the series and will see Jason Statham take on the lead role. – The Vibes, April 25, 2023
