KUALA LUMPUR – The National Unity Ministry has denied hiring hundreds of kindergarten teachers with the minimum academic requirement of a Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) or Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) certification.

In a statement, the ministry said its National Unity and Integration Department put out an ad on October 11 for six vacancies for unity kindergarten teachers Grade S29, and four for teaching assistants.

It said the minimum academic requirement for kindergarten teaching positions is a diploma in early childhood education from government-recognised institutions, and preference is given to women below the age of 40.

A fake job ad bearing the image of National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique and the logo of the Community Development Department (Kemas) has been making the rounds on social media since Friday.

The ministry said Kemas is not under its purview. – The Vibes, October 17, 2021
