A MAN recently attained social media fame - all for the wrong reasons - he reserved a parking spot comfortably seated in a chair.
The incident unfolded recently at Pantai Purnama, Port Dickson and was shared on the DashCam Malaysia Facebook.
Apparently, the man booked the parking lot as his family who was parked at a distance wanted to unload things.
Prince Firdaus, the driver who shared the footage said they were circling, looking for a spot and were about to park, when the man and his family members 'booked it'.
Unknown to many, it is an offence to book parking lots.
Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987 in Malaysia makes it illegal to "chope" or reserve a parking spot by standing or placing objects in it, even if it's unoccupied.
This includes actions like placing a cone, chair, or even standing in the spot to wait for someone else.
Anyone found guilty can be fined up to RM2,000 or face imprisonment for up to six months. - May 15, 2025
