THE actions of a handful of female worshippers who left lipstick marks in the shape of lips on the wall of the Muslim women's changing room at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur have caused displeasure among netizens.
The matter went viral after a Threads user, @Ridhwah, shared several photos showing a white wall covered in lipstick marks believed to have been applied using lips, reported Kosmo!
According to him, he was surprised by the actions of the individuals involved, which were deemed irresponsible in addition to polluting the cleanliness of the place of worship.
"I want to ask sincerely, this happened in a mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Before praying, do you really have to kiss the wall to remove the lipstick? It's really disgusting," he said.
The post then invited various reactions from netizens who generally condemned the act as being considered uncivilised and tarnishing the image of the mosque.
A user, @Ifah_zhad, said that the same situation allegedly often happens in several other public suraus, causing an uneasy feeling about the attitude of a few individuals.
“Things like this do happen in many public suraus. There are lipstick, mascara and foundation marks on the walls. Is it strange, is it makeup on the face or on the surau walls?” he said.
In addition, user @Everyinnn questioned the act of leaving lipstick marks on the wall simply to clean the makeup before performing ablution.
“It’s disgusting. Can kissing the wall make it go away? Usually, people just use face wash,” he said.
Meanwhile, another user described the act as dirty and not reflecting a responsible attitude when in a public place.
“It’s really dirty. There was a commotion at school before when the walls of the female students’ toilets became like this. Apparently, there are indeed groups who behave like this,” said @Mommytqa. – May 26, 2026
