THERE are countless skincare and makeup products out there designed to hide or minimise dark circles, yet TikTok users have come up with an innovative new technique that does the job in style. Known as ombré concealer, this method involves using a combination of shades of concealer and blush under the eye to neutralise dark circles, brighten eyes and even enhance cheekbones.

Tired friends come hither, as this new TikTok trick promises to mask dark circles in a flash. After the ombré hair colouration technique, with shades fading from dark to light, here comes ombré concealer. And this too is about playing with colour, shadow and light, only this time in the eye area.

The aim is to camouflage dark circles while brightening the eyes, and even enhancing cheekbones in the process. It's a sort of all-in-one solution that has already won over millions of followers on the social network, including some of the biggest names in beauty and makeup – proof that the tip hasn't gone unnoticed.

More than 15 million views

A rainbow of colour is what the ombré concealer technique is all about. Such is the popularity of this method that the hashtags #ombreconcealer and #ombreconcealertutorial alone have already generated over 15 million views on TikTok in just a few weeks.

One of the most viewed videos (3 million times) was created by a user called Klaudia. (@klaudiasyd), who has a passion for makeup and beauty tips. She demonstrates her own version of the ombré concealer trick, using no less than five dots of colour applied under each eye to achieve a look worthy of the most glamorous Hollywood red carpets.

To try this technique, all you need is three different shades of concealer or liquid corrector (two much lighter than your foundation shade, and a third slightly lighter), plus two shades of blush (a peach colour and a cerise shade, for example).

In her video, the user applies the three dots of concealer from the inner corner of the eye, starting with the lightest shades, then finishes with the dots of blush at the outer corner. Now, believe it or not, you're almost done. The final, essential step is to blend in all the product, again starting at the inner corner of the eye, to achieve a seamless line of colour fading from dark to light. It's also possible to set the product in place with powder to perfect the application.

As we've seen, ombré concealer already has millions of followers on the social network, but it's not the only makeup method shared by users to hide dark circles. Over the past few months, pink concealer has been the talk of the social network, acclaimed for its ability to mask dark circles while guaranteeing a healthy glow. The same result has been achieved with pink blush, which was also a viral trend on TikTok for several weeks. – ETX Daily Up, August 4, 2023
