A NANNY in Johor is being held by the state police over bruises and bite marks sustained by an infant under her care.
Kluang police chief, Bahrin Mohd Noh said they have detained the woman in her twenties for further investigations following a report lodged by the child’s mother.
The suspect has been remanded for four days under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Earlier, the mother, Nurhidayah Jamil, 32, said that she was left horrified and distressed after she found the six-month old baby with the marks.
She also spotted injuries on her elder child after he came home from a nursery in Kluang. Both the children looked like they were abused, she said.
Nurhidayah then highlighted the incident on Facebook.
She said that her younger child had eight bite marks all over his body, while the older one had a slap mark on his face.
According to reports in Harian Metro, she said that her baby was admitted to the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital and administered antibiotics, while her elder son was suffering from a fever.
"On the very first day at the nanny’s home, it turned out tragic for me and my children. Baby Luth, who is just six months old was bitten by the babysitter's child more than eight times causing his skin to tear with blood stains on his clothes.
"As for Abang Nuh, there are adult fingerprints on his face. Till now, Abang Nuh is still traumatised and has a fever. He personally saw his brother being bitten.
"Please pray that my children recover soon," she said in her Facebook post.
She said she had also since lodged a police report and left it to the authorities to investigate.
"The reason I am posting on social media is to alert other parents and guardians so that the same thing does not happen to them. – The Vibes, January 16, 2024
