TWO men were arrested after they brandished a machete at a motorist who flashed his high beams at them for alleged dangerous driving in Forest City, Gelang Patah, on Sunday.
Kulai District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee, said the two men, aged 26 and 30, were arrested following an investigation conducted after the police received a report at 8.04 am, Sunday.
He said initial investigations found that the suspects were driving dangerously and threatening to use a weapon in the incident that occurred at about 5.50 am on the Senai flyover heading to the Senai International Airport.
"Investigations found that the incident involved four men in a Kia car with registration number PMD 5686.
"The suspect was not satisfied after the complainant continuously turned on his high beam following the action of suddenly cutting into the right lane at a slow speed until he almost hit the complainant's car," he said in a statement on Monday.
He said that while on the Senai flyover, the suspect overtook and stopped suddenly in front of the complainant's car.
"One of the suspects then got out of the vehicle while carrying a machete and ordered the complainant to get out of his car.
"The suspect also swung the weapon at the bonnet of the complainant's car, leaving a mark on it," he said.
The arrest also led to the seizure of car keys, a mobile phone, clothes, a machete, along with a 30-centimetre black sheath and handle believed to have been used during the incident.
"However, the results of urine screening tests conducted on both suspects found them to be negative for drugs," said Tan.
Further investigations are still being conducted to identify the real cause of the incident and to track down other individuals involved.
He said a remand application for both suspects will be made.
"The case is being investigated under Section 506, Section 427 and Section 279 of the Penal Code," he said. – August 3, 2026
