WITH the possibility of the Sabah election being called at any time, the state Barisan Nasional (BN) is already drawing up its manifesto and pledges.
State BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said suggestions have started to roll in though the current electoral term will only expire in September next year.
“For this, I have instructed a team to draft a comprehensive, clear and achievable manifesto. The team will be led by Sabah BN secretary Datuk Jaffry Arifin,” he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu, today.
Bung said critical basic infrastructure, economy and unemployment will be among the coalition’s primary focuses in its manifesto while they will also offer special initiatives to young voters who can influence their peers.
Bung said this after chairing a Sabah BN meeting at the Umno building last Saturday.
Also present were the Deputy Chairman of BN, Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Secretary of BN Sabah, Datuk Jafry Arifin, Treasurer of BN Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh, as well as leaders and representatives of BN Sabah components, MIC, MCA, and PBRS.
The Sabah Umno chief assured that the party's manifesto will be promises that can be fulfilled, not just "empty promises" or grand ideas as promised by other parties that ultimately failed to deliver.
"The BN Sabah manifesto is issued according to BN's capabilities to fulfil it; it is not empty promises. We do not promise a manifesto of grand ideas that ultimately cannot be fulfilled," he said.
According to him, this manifesto needs to be prepared earlier to anticipate the possibility of the 17th Sabah election being held at any time. - The Vibes, March 18, 2024
