THE remains of Ayer Kuning State Assemblyman (ADUN) Ishsam Shahruddin were safely buried at the Rapat Setia Islamic Cemetery at 10:40am today.

Prior to that, the late Ishsam’s remains were taken from his residence in Desa Seri Ampang to Masjid An Nur Desa Seri Ampang for bathing and funeral prayers.

Around 1,000 worshippers participated in the funeral prayer, led by Ustaz Azmuley Abdul Aziz, Bernama reported.

Also present to pay their respects were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, state government exco members, political leaders, and local residents.

Ishsam, 59, passed away at 6:28 pm yesterday at Penang Hospital (HPP) after being brought to the hospital at 5:40 pm.

Earlier, it was reported that he collapsed while participating in a friendly four-corner football match at the City Stadium in Georgetown, Penang.

The hearse carrying his remains arrived at his home in Desa Seri Ampang at around 12:30 a.m. last night after the post-mortem at the HPP Forensic Medicine Department.

His death was later confirmed to be caused by a heart attack. – February 23, 2025
