A TEENAGE boy was charged at the Kota Bahru Sessions Court today for raping a 10-year-old girl in a mosque toilet in Kampung Enggang, in November last year.

The 18-year-old accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges read out before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

According to the charges, the teenager raped the girl at 1.30pm on November 21 last year.

The accused was charged under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code which provides for a minimum prison sentence of 10 years to 30 years and whipping.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamarul Hasyime Rosli and the accused was represented by Muhammad Khairul Azwan Azhan.

Earlier, Kamarul Hasyime did not offer any bail as the case was serious and the victim was only 10-years-old.

Muhamamd Khairul, however, applied for bail as remand detention was not suitable for his client who is still a teenager.

The court later offered bail of RM8,000 and ordered the accused not to harass the victim.

The court also set May 21 for re-mention of the case. – April 20, 2025
