A PEDESTRIAN was killed after being hit by a Lamborghini car on Jalan Lapangan Terbang in Kuching yesterday evening.
The victim, a 52-year-old foreign national who was a construction worker for the Kuching Automated Transit Flow System (ART) Project, was confirmed dead at the scene.
Kuching District Police Chief, Alexson Naga Chabu, said the victim was crossing the road when the incident occurred at about 6.50pm.
At the same time, he said, a Lamborghini driven by a 54-year-old local man was said to be coming from the direction of Kuching International Airport (LTAK) towards Padungan.
"Following the collision, the victim, who suffered head injuries, was confirmed dead at the scene by a assistant medical officer from the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS).
"The driver of the car was detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death," he said.
If convicted, he could be punished with imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 10 years and a fine of not less than RM20,000 and not more than RM50,000.
