SIX luxury homes and a plot of land belonging to a concessionaire with the title Tan Sri were seized by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Friday following an investigation into the misappropriation of sukuk funds for the construction of a highway in the Klang Valley.

Sources informed that the seizure was carried out following a search by the MACC involving properties worth approximately RM12 million, reported Sinar Harian.

"Through the raid, MACC also found a horse worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit which is believed to have been purchased using sukuk funds.

"Following that, MACC also summoned the individual involved along with his wife to be for statements but only the woman appeared after her husband reported having health problems," said the source.

He said MACC is expected to summon between 30 and 50 witnesses to assist in the investigation in addition to continuing the investigation to trace assets belonging to the Tan Sri and his wife, both domestically and abroad.

The media recently reported that the MACC seized various assets worth approximately RM32 million belonging to the same individual, including designer handbags, jewellery, luxury vehicles, watches and cash.

During the operation, the MACC also found a store in one of the residences used to store various luxury liquors estimated to be worth RM3 million, which is believed to be linked to money laundering activities.

The MACC in a statement announced that all the items and assets in question were seized for further investigation in accordance with the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (AMLA) 2001. – May 31, 2025
