Fadillah: MADANI government delivers tangible reform, powered by the people
Announcement described as a “tribute to the people of Malaysia” - July 23, 2025

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, has welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s latest address as a “tribute to the people of Malaysia” and a testament to the MADANI government’s steadfast commitment to inclusive reform.

“The Prime Minister rightly paid tribute to the Malaysian people as the backbone of national stability. His address unites all segments of society to remain focused on comprehensive reform for the sake of future generations,” said Fadillah in a statement issued today.

He described the speech as more than symbolic — a reaffirmation that “Malaysia MADANI is not just a slogan, but a national movement we are realising together.”

“Firm in policy, clear in direction — the Prime Minister has succeeded in instilling confidence that our fiscal reforms are on the right path, with the support of the people as our central force,” he added.

Highlighting the country's improving economic indicators, Fadillah pointed to a 4.4 per cent GDP growth in Q1 2025, with second-quarter projections at 4.5 per cent. Malaysia also climbed 11 places to rank 23rd in the 2025 World Competitiveness Index, while the ringgit appreciated by 5 per cent (RM4.23/USD), placing it among Asia’s top five performing currencies.

“These achievements are not just numbers on paper. They open up wider avenues for investment, job opportunities and targeted social policies that benefit the rakyat directly,” he said.

As a Sarawakian, Fadillah said he has seen firsthand how comprehensive policies are uplifting rural communities. “The increase in the paddy floor price, rubber incentives, and grassroots initiatives like Sejati MADANI respond to the needs of the rural population,” he noted.

He also highlighted the expansion of the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme to 200 villages, and the goal of reaching 1,000 MADANI Adopted Schools nationwide by the end of 2025, alongside the scaling up of Rahmah MADANI Sales across all 600 state constituencies.

In his capacity as Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Fadillah expressed gratitude for the government’s bold steps in subsidy restructuring.

“From July, 85 per cent of Malaysians are paying up to 14 per cent less for electricity. RON95 fuel will soon be targeted, with prices reduced to RM1.99 per litre. Subsidy savings will be redirected to benefit citizens, not foreign nationals,” he said.

“These reforms prove that structural change need not be burdensome — rather, they offer fairness and relief to the majority.”

Fadillah, who also oversees affairs related to Sabah and Sarawak, welcomed the announcement of a public holiday on 15 September 2025 in conjunction with Malaysia Day, calling it a meaningful gesture of national unity.

“Let us unite in spirit and in action to uphold the MADANI agenda that gives real meaning to the people’s lives. From villages to cities, from the Peninsula to Borneo, every citizen deserves fair and inclusive progress,” he added. - July 23, 2025
