THE government has assured that the supply of food and basic goods purchased using the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) credit is sufficient.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said, no reports of supply problems have been recorded so far.

“At this time, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has not reported any problems related to supply.

“Monitoring will be increased to ensure that there are no issues in terms of stocks or supply of basic necessities,” he said.

Fahmi, who is also the Unity Government spokesman, said the government would continue to monitor in case of any supply shortages.

"KPDN and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will definitely ensure that the supply of chicken, eggs and others is sufficient," he said at the weekly post-cabinet meeting press conference, today.

Fahmi said that as of midnight yesterday, the Minister of Finance II announced that RM192.5 million had been redeemed and the government expects more people to come out to redeem the RM100 given to citizens aged 18 and above this week.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) increased the SARA transaction capacity to 15,000 single-use transactions compared to 5,000 on the MyKasih server to face the long weekend holiday.

Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican said the move was to ensure that consumers would no longer be affected by delays to the point of having to abandon goods and shopping carts. - September 3, 2025
