THE husband of the woman found dead with her 11-year-old daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru has been arrested to assist investigations.

He has since been remanded for a week pending investigations for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said police are now trying to determine the motive for the double murder.

It was reported earlier today that the 51-year-old woman and her daughter were found dead at their home when the husband returned about 7.30pm yesterday.

The woman's body was found in the downstairs kitchen, while her daughter was discovered face down and bloodied upstairs.

The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the close-knit village, with many residents still struggling to come to terms with the shocking events. - October 19, 2025
