AN elderly woman who was reported missing in Kota Belud since 16 December was found dead on Sunday morning in an agricultural area near a swamp in Tumpul Tambulion Luminodip.

The victim was identified as Minun Kasim, 83. Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said the body was discovered at about 10am by the search and rescue team in a swampy area.

“After the operation to retrieve the victim from the swamp was successfully carried out, the body was handed over to the police for further action. The operation was fully concluded at 12.40pm,” he said in a media statement.

Minun was reported missing after she failed to return home on 16 December. She was last seen in Kampung Tambulion Laut at about 5.30pm on the day she disappeared, prompting a multi-agency search operation.

Missing Teen Found In Bachok

In a separate development in Kelantan, a missing teenage girl was found safe more than 32 hours after she was reported missing from Kuala Krai.

The 15-year-old, identified as Alisa Safika Noor Azmi, had left her grandmother’s house in Kampung Lata Rek, Laloh, in the early hours of Friday without her grandmother’s knowledge. She was later found by members of the public in Bachok on Saturday night.

Alisa was taken by the public to the Tawang police station at about 10.30pm after they recognised her from media reports regarding her disappearance.

Earlier, Kuala Krai district police chief Superintendent Mazlan Mamat had appealed to the public for assistance in locating the teenager. “A police report regarding the disappearance of the teenager was lodged at the Laloh police station on the same day,” he said previously. - December 21, 2025
