PAKATAN Harapan (PH) has given the coalition's Election Committee two months to complete a comprehensive study to face the Melaka and Johor State Elections (PRN), including assessing the possibility of collaboration with Barisan Nasional (BN), like the model in the current Unity Government administration.
Its Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said preparations included field studies, strategic assessments and collaborative approaches to ensure that decisions made were accurate and effective.
He said the results of the study would be presented to the PH Secretariat for further action.
"We (at the secretariat level) have held an initial round (of discussions), and we have requested that the Election Committee under PH assess various aspects, including looking at the strategy for entering this election,” he said.
Saifuddin said the two-month period would allow the committee to assess all aspects thoroughly comprehensive, including cooperation strategies, seat distribution and appropriate campaign approaches.
He said that the preparations were important to ensure that the strategies adopted were effective and relevant according to the current situation, including taking into account the experience of the current Unity Government administration.
It was earlier reported that BN had not yet made any decisions on political cooperation with any party to face the upcoming Melaka and Johor state elections.
Its Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, said it was still too early to talk about the distribution of seats between parties because the matter had not yet been decided.
He explained that all decisions on political cooperation would be taken after careful study and negotiations to ensure that the approach taken had a positive impact on both parties and supporters. – February 7, 2026
