THE Cabinet decided that any further action on the investigation into the shareholding of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, will be carried out by the Chief Secretary to the Government.

Government spokesman, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet meeting had received and discussed the results of the report of the Special Committee investigating the matter today.

"I will not state what the results of the report are, as there are further steps that need to be implemented by Tan Sri KSN. For further information, we are waiting for the statement from KSN," he said.

He said this at the weekly press conference following the Cabinet meeting at the Perdana Putra Building on Wednesday.

According to him, the action decided will also be announced by Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar in the near future.

"No specific date was discussed, but I believe it will not be too long," he said.

Earlier, the government set up a special committee to investigate all allegations and arising matters linked to Azam.

This followed a Bloomberg report claiming that Azam held millions of shares in a financial services company based on corporate filings.

However, Azam at a recent press conference stressed that his RM800,000 shareholding in a financial services company was done transparently and according to procedures.

Fahmi also confirmed that the Cabinet meeting did not discuss Azam's service contract, which will expire on May 12. – March 11, 2026
