NIZAMUDDIN Hamid – the lawyer for the wife of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid, had his statement recorded at Bukit Aman today to assist in the investigation into an alleged plot to overthrow the government.
According to Nizamuddin, he was treated well, and the police were very professional.
"All I want to say today is briefly, the theme is to focus on reality, avoid fantasy.
"The first reality is that our client (Na'imah) has nothing to do with the Bloomberg report that is the issue in this investigation, while the second reality is that our client or her family members have the right to defend the late Tun Daim, his name, and his legacy in the media or in court.
"The third reality is that there needs to be reform of law enforcement institutions such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which has yet to be implemented. Those are the three realities," he told reporters after giving his statement as reported by Sinar Harian.
He stressed that a 70-year-old widow is incapable and cannot threaten parliamentary democracy. And there is absolutely no involvement from the Israeli Zionists.
“Also, the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society that were called were not paid by Na'imah's children.
"They are independent and continue to be a force of checks and balances in our country. Thank you," he said.
He added that about 90 questions were asked, and the process of recording the statements took less than three hours.
Before that, Nizamuddin appeared with two other lawyers, Datuk Khalid Yusoff and Izwan Ariff Ibrahim.
The statement was taken by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT) of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ).
In another development, lawyer Zaid Malik, who represented two other individuals in relation to the issue involved, said that their client, a political analyst, was asked about 80 questions by the police in relation to the case.
"Both of my clients were called after their names appeared on a list allegedly contained in an email linked to the investigation," he said.
On February 27, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, through a press statement, reportedly said that a report had been received regarding the issue involving an influential local individual with an international media agency.
Mohd Khalid said that the investigation into the matter was being conducted by the Bukit Aman USJT JSJ under Section 124B of the Penal Code.
Regarding the allegations, Na'imah, in a statement, described the allegations that she was trying to undermine or bring down the government as absurd, while insisting that she had never been involved in, considered or supported any such efforts.
She also questioned how a government could be overthrown with the help of international media or public relations firms and stressed that seeking advice from a professional public relations (PR) firm was not an offence. – March 12, 2026
