PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a Sarawak State Development Meeting with senior federal and state leaders, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination on development priorities and address current issues affecting the state.

The meeting, held at the Satria Pertiwi Complex, lasted about an hour and brought together key members of both the federal and Sarawak administrations.

Anwar was received upon arrival by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Also in attendance were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud and members of the Sarawak cabinet.

Among the state leaders present were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, along with other senior officials.

Discussions during the session focused on development initiatives as well as current needs and priorities for Sarawak, reflecting ongoing cooperation between the Federal Government and the state administration.

The meeting formed part of the prime minister’s programme of working visits across Malaysia aimed at engaging directly with state leadership to review development projects and ensure the welfare of local communities is addressed effectively.

It also served as a key platform for coordinating development planning between Putrajaya and the Sarawak government while identifying issues requiring immediate attention or policy action.

Following the meeting, Anwar was scheduled to continue his official programme with a visit to the Sukma Ria Ramadan Bazaar before attending the Sarawak-level MADANI 2026 Iftar event at the Sarawak State Jamek Mosque later in the evening.

He was also expected to proceed to the Penview Convention Centre in Demak Laut to attend a Sarawak state leadership meeting of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). - March 13, 2026
