FOUR men, including two armed with pistols, carried out a bold daylight robbery at a jewellery shop along Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Kuala Lumpur, escaping with gold worth an estimated RM9.75 million.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred at about 11am, with all suspects, whose identities remain unknown, fleeing the scene with 21 trays of gold weighing approximately 15 kilogrammes.

"Four suspects armed with two pistols, whose identities have yet to be established, stormed the premises and made off with 21 trays of gold.

"The suspects also seized a shotgun belonging to the security guard along with a round of ammunition," he said.

The robbery took place in the bustling Brickfields district, raising concerns over public safety in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.

Fadil said investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to track down all those involved.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery. - April 16, 2026
