TWO teenage suspects accused of involvement in the killing of a 19-year-old college student whose body was found bearing 61 stab wounds were brought to court on Friday morning for remand extension proceedings as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the case.
The two suspects, both aged 19, arrived at the courthouse at approximately 8.50am under police escort. One of them is understood to be a college student from Kuala Krai.
Their initial seven-day remand order expired on Friday, prompting police to seek additional detention time to facilitate further investigations into the murder of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) student Nurfisya Zulkifly.
Nurfisya’s body was discovered last Friday in Kampung Simah, Ketereh, with investigators finding 61 stab wounds across multiple parts of her body in what authorities believe was an exceptionally violent attack.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat previously said the victim had been found without any identification documents. Her identity was later confirmed through fingerprint verification conducted by the National Registration Department.
Police believe the teenager was killed at a different location before her body was abandoned at the site where it was eventually discovered.
The investigation initially saw four individuals remanded, including two elderly persons identified as the parents of one of the suspects. The elderly pair were subsequently released on police bail earlier this week.
The case has intensified public attention in Kelantan due to the brutality of the killing and the young age of both the victim and the suspects. - May 8, 2026
