THE Malaysian delegation involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission has safely arrived in Türkiye after being intercepted and detained by Israeli forces during their voyage aimed at delivering humanitarian assistance linked to the Gaza crisis.

The development was confirmed through an official statement issued by Sumud Nusantara, which said all 29 Malaysian participants had safely reached Türkiye late last night on a Turkish Airlines flight after enduring what it described as a series of challenges throughout the mission.

“Alhamdulillah, all our delegates have safely arrived in Türkiye and overcome every ordeal.

“Thank you for the support and prayers that became a shield for the Sumud Nusantara team. We continue this struggle with even greater spirit and determination,” the organisation said in a statement.

Earlier, Sumud Nusantara Control Centre director-general Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby reportedly said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had sponsored three Turkish Airlines aircraft to evacuate all 428 international activists, including the Malaysian contingent, from Ramon Airport in Israel to Istanbul.

According to Sani Araby, the Malaysian delegation is scheduled to depart Türkiye for Malaysia on 23 May and is expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 24 May.

The Global Sumud Flotilla mission was organised as part of an international humanitarian effort linked to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with activists from multiple countries participating in the voyage to highlight humanitarian concerns surrounding the Palestinian territory. - May 22, 2026
