POLICE have started investigations over an incident where heavy objects were allegedly thrown from the Greenlane Heights Block H apartment, Jalan Gangsa in Penang, which damaged two vehicles.
Northeast district deputy police chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said that so far, police received reports from two victims involving an estimated total loss of about RM2,000.
“We are still investigating this case under Section 427 of the Penal Code, on mischief causing property damage,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.
Meanwhile, Seri Delima State Assemblyman (ADUN), Connie Tan Hooi Peng, described the incident that occurred at the apartment as not an isolated case, as several similar incidents had occurred before, including in nearby areas such as Greenlane Park Condominium.
The latest incident at Greenlane Heights Block H occurred on May 18 when several bricks were believed to have been thrown from the building, damaging two vehicles parked below.
“This issue is very serious because it can cause serious injury or death in addition to damaging property and causing fear among residents.
“Therefore, I hope that the individuals responsible can be identified and brought to justice immediately,” she told reporters today.
Tan said that residents in high-rise housing areas need to play a more active role in helping the authorities curb such incidents.
“The community cannot just rely on police patrols but must instead be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the community in channelling information regarding such incidents.
“The issue needs to be addressed seriously through the ‘three E’ approach, namely education, enforcement and engineering,” she said. – May 24, 2026
