A GRIEVING father is demanding strict action against drivers allegedly involved in a street race that led to a fatal crash along Jalan Renggam – Simpang Renggam in Kluang yesterday, killing his daughter and three other relatives.

Sidek Abd Hamid, 42, said he and his wife, Nurul Ain Mohd Rashid, 38, were devastated to learn that the accident was believed to have been caused by two cars racing.

“When I watched the dashboard camera footage from another vehicle that has since gone viral, I felt an overwhelming mix of grief and anger,” he said.

“Losing family members, especially my own child, is heartbreaking.

“Those responsible must face strict consequences so that such reckless behaviour does not happen again and serves as a lesson to others.”

The crash, which occurred at about 1 pm, also claimed the lives of Nur Airish Syifa’s uncle, Mohd Aiman Mohd Rashid, 36; his wife, Nor Azlina Abd Latif, 33; her mother, Semek Mat Soh, 73; as well as the driver of the second car allegedly involved in the illegal race.

Sidek said he was certain the car driven by Mohd Aiman was not at fault.

“I am confident because he was a careful driver and never sped,” he added.

Earlier reports indicated that two siblings were believed to have been racing before a BMW driven by one of them lost control and ploughed into four other vehicles. – June 2, 2026
