POLICE have opened eight investigation papers related to the 16th Johor State Election (PRN) from June 27 to yesterday.
Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said of the total, five investigation papers were for mischief with fire or explosives and property damage.
"The police will continue to enhance monitoring, enforcement and enforcement actions throughout the campaign period, to ensure that every violation of the law is taken seriously, fairly and with integrity without any compromise," he said in a statement.
Investigations were opened under Sections 435, 426 and 427 of the Penal Code.
Ab Rahaman said the security situation throughout the Johor PRN process has been peaceful and under control, with 2,037 permit applications received and 1,849 approved for the same period.
He said during the same period, 1,155 political activities were held and monitored by police officers, to ensure that each program was implemented in an orderly manner, complied with legal provisions and did not affect public safety and order.
He said that to ensure smooth traffic, security and public order, the police are always on high alert through the continuous assignment of personnel throughout the constituency.
Ab Rahaman asked all political parties, candidates, supporters and the community to continue to respect the law, comply with permit conditions and practice maturity in politics.
The 16th Johor PRN saw the campaign period begin after the nomination process on June 27, while polling day is set for July 11. – July 3, 2026
