FORMER Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, will undergo a heart procedure at Serdang Hospital next week.

The former prime minister's special officer, Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, confirmed this with the New Straits Times today.

"He is now in stable condition," he told NST briefly via WhatsApp.

Najib, 72, is currently serving a six-year prison sentence after being convicted in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

His sentence is due to end on Aug 23, 2028.

He was also sentenced by the High Court to 15 years' imprisonment after being convicted of abuse of power and money laundering involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The jail term will begin after he completes his current sentence.

Najib has since appealed against the 1MDB conviction and sentence. – July 17, 2026
