RCI TH: MACC detains 7, including those with 'Datuk' and 'Datuk Seri' titles
All suspects were detained in stages from about 3 pm to 10.30 pm yesterday - August 15, 2026

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested seven individuals, including a woman, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a company director, a former company director and four former senior management of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) in connection with the TH RCI issue.

The first suspect arrested is a CEO of a shipping company with the title Datuk, aged in his 60s.

He was arrested on suspicion of submitting documents containing false details when making payments to TH involving the forgery of contract documents from a petroleum company for the benefit of his company.

The second and third suspects, with the titles Datuk and Datuk Seri, aged in their 60s, were arrested on suspicion of deceiving TH officials into investing in a construction company by promising the company the potential to be listed on the Malaysia Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, four former TH senior management members aged in their 50s and 60s, including a Datuk Seri and a woman, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in corrupt practices.

This led TH to enter into a lease agreement for four hotels with a company in Saudi Arabia totalling SR2.49 billion, which caused losses to TH.

However, only two male suspects, the CEO of a shipping company and the director of a construction company with the title Datuk, were remanded, while the other five suspects were released on MACC bail due to health problems.

A five-day remand order until August 19 against both suspects was issued by Magistrate Ahmad Afiq Hasan, after an application was made by MACC at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court this morning.

According to sources, all suspects were detained in stages from about 3 pm to 10.30 pm yesterday at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya, yesterday.

The remand is a follow-up to an investigation by a special team established by the MACC to review and examine the results of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) TH Report, which was made public.

Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Sri Abd Halim Aman, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and informed that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 and Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. – August 15, 2026
