A BMW was destroyed and a Perodua Axia partially damaged after a fire broke out at KL Gateway Mall in Jalan Kerinchi in Kuala Lumpur last night.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call through the NG999 line at 9.53pm before dispatching six firefighters from the Pantai Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

Operations commander Mokhtar Ramli said firefighters found two vehicles at the location upon arrival.

"The BMW was completely gutted, while the Perodua Axia sustained about 30 per cent damage," he said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control and extinguished it shortly afterwards.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. - August 17, 2026
