SINGAPORE – Two Malaysians are among the 44 new imported Covid-19 cases in Singapore yesterday, said the republic’s Health Ministry.
Both are work permit holders who arrived from Malaysia, it said in its report last night.
The first case, labelled “59,644”, is a 26-year-old man who is asymptomatic, while the second, labelled “59,645”, is a 33-year-old woman with symptoms.
As of noon yesterday, Singapore recorded 44 new imported cases, with 40 being asymptomatic, and no local transmission.
A 60-year-old male permanent resident who returned from Malaysia is also among the asymptomatic cases.
He is linked to Case 59,532, reported on Friday – a 61-year-old Singaporean man who also returned from Malaysia.
The other new imported cases came from Bangladesh, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
With the latest infections, the republic’s coronavirus tally hits 59,352.
The ministry said all the new cases have been placed on the stay-home notice, or were isolated upon their arrival in the country.
