PUTRAJAYA – Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said his tweet this morning is simply a reminder for Malaysians to stay home whenever possible, and not a hint that the movement control order (MCO) will be enforced again.

The health director-general posted “How about all stay at Home for a while again?” in response to a suggestion by Twitter user @zalifahms that interstate travel be temporarily banned to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Dr Noor Hisham’s reply sparked rumours that the MCO will be reintroduced.

“That (tweet) is not a new thing. I was once again reminding Malaysians who do not have important business outside to remain home, and if you do need to go out, abide by the standard operating procedure,” he told a press conference here this evening.

“That was the main purpose of my tweet.”

He urged all quarters to comply with health and safety guidelines, so as to flatten the Covid-19 curve.

“The onus is on us to flatten the curve again. We have done it before, and we can do it again. But this needs collaboration from all of us.

“If we come together, we can make the impossible, possible.”

Malaysia today recorded 260 new infections – the second-highest daily count since the 277 cases reported on June 4 – taking the national tally to 11,484.
