MIRI – The body of a 15-year-old Penan boy was found today, three days after he was reported missing in Marudi district, in northern Sarawak.

He was last seen playing in Sg Tutoh.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department personnel found the remains some 5km from the spot where he was last spotted.

“The Marudi rescue team received the missing persons alert only at 10.50am on Tuesday, as the location is about 200km from town,” said the department.

“A search-and-rescue team was deployed to the site. After two days, the team found the body stuck among river debris yesterday afternoon.”

The victim has been identified as Ronia Bajut, whose family are from the Sg Maloh riverine settlement.

Fire authorities said the body has been handed over to the family. – The Vibes, March 11, 2021
