KOTA KINABALU – Sabah is seeing a resurgence in daily Covid-19 cases, with 112 logged today after 51 days of double-digit infections.

The figures were shared by state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun on Twitter.

A cluster linked to a church in Lahad Datu is among the factors for the surge, he said.

“Sabah’s new cases went up to three digits for the first time in weeks, due to the increase in cases in Tawau.”

Of the fresh infections, 69 are in Tawau, followed by Kota Kinabalu (14) and Lahad Datu (12).

“The Belacon cluster in Lahad Datu originated from a church,” said Masidi.

The state first recorded daily cases in the double digits on February 15 following a spike in infections starting September 17 last year, during the election campaign for the September 26 state polls.

The state yesterday registered 65 cases, making for a total of 55,122.
