MIRI – Sarawak today saw three more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the toll to 165, and 432 fresh infections as well as two new clusters.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said two of the deaths were logged in Bintulu Hospital, involving a 47-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man. The other death recorded was a 44-year-old woman in Sarikei Hospital.

Today, two new clusters and 432 new infections were recorded statewide, said the secretariat.

Both new clusters were detected in longhouses in the Kanowit district, with the Sg Ngungun cluster involving 26 people and Sg Tuah cluster involving 31 residents. The total number of clusters in the state stands at 63.

Of the 432 new infections today, Bintulu district recorded 81, Meradong (64), Miri (60), Sibu (53), Kanowit (46), Selangau (23), Mukah (23), Kuching (21), Matu (10) and other districts with fewer than 10 cases each.

The secretariat said Sarawak has imposed the enhanced movement control order on 10 longhouses across the state and SMK Ulu Balingian in the Sibu division. – The Vibes, April 27, 2021
