561 new Covid-19 cases reported today, two more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR –  The Ministry of Health says 561 new Covid-19 cases were recorded as of noon today, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 15,657. 

Of the new cases, 553 were locally transmitted while eight were imported.

“Eleven of the local transmissions were those who had returned from Sabah, bringing the total number of cases with a history of travel to Sabah since Sept 20 to 353 cases," Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said in an online press conference via the Health Ministry’s Facebook account today. 

Sabah continued to report the highest number of infections with 488, followed by Selangor (25 cases), Kedah (16), Kuala Lumpur (8), Labuan (5), three each in Johor, Melaka and Terengganu while Perak and Penang reported one case each.

Currently, there are 4,587 active cases, with 90 requiring intensive care and 29 on oxygen support. 

Two new deaths were also reported, bringing the country’s death toll to 157.

On a positive note, 133 cases were discharged, meaning the total number of recoveries is at 10,913. – The Vibes, October 11, 2020
