MIRI – The Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has reached the 190-mark today following two more fatalities recorded in Miri and Sarikei’s hospitals.

Two more new clusters have also emerged along with 419 new infections even as eight more longhouses and villages are being placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Sarawak registered two more deaths, taking the death toll to 190, said the state Disaster Management Committee secretariat.

The two Covid-19 deaths were that of a woman aged 48 in Sarikei Hospital and a 58-year-old man in Miri Hospital.

The secretariat said it was saddened that the deaths had reached 190, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased.

Out of the 419 new infections today, Sibu district recorded 133, Mukah 35, Kuching 33, Kanowit 28, Bintulu 27, Kapit 25, Selangau 18, Serian 17, Miri 15, and numerous other districts below 15 cases each.

The secretariat said the new Tg Kibong cluster in Sibu district saw a ship industrial site hit by 32 positive infections and the Jalan Sawit cluster in Sarikei saw 18 road construction workers down with the coronavirus.
