KUALA LUMPUR – Police will be mounting roadblocks at nine locations here from today following the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) in the city from May 7 to 20.
Among the locations are Jalan Sentul Pasar in front of Kepong police station, Jalan Klang Lama, Jalan 2/27A in Wangsa Melawati, Jalan 1/91 in Taman Shamelin Perkasa, and the Bukit Jalil highway.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Yong Lei Choo said police are tightening roadblocks to prevent unauthorised inter-district travel.
“There will also be roadblocks on the Kuala Lumpur-bound side of the Federal Highway, Kuala Lumpur-bound side of the Jalan Duta toll plaza, and Kuala Lumpur-bound side of the Sg Besi toll plaza.”
Yong said checks and patrols by compliance teams and patrol units will be intensified to ensure the MCO is comprehensively implemented.
In PETALING JAYA, district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said police will be conducting two additional roadblocks during the MCO period from May 6 to 17.
The new roadblock locations are at the Federal Highway and Taman Kannagapuram under the New Pantai Expressway.
“The roadblock at the Federal Highway began at 4pm today, while the one at Taman Kannagapuram will begin at 12.01am (after midnight tonight).”
He said existing roadblocks in the district are at the Sg Buloh, Kota Damansara, Damansara and Subang toll plazas. – Bernama, May 8, 2021
