KUALA LUMPUR – Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah made an appearance at Istana Negara here this afternoon, just hours after opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Ku Li, who is Gua Musang MP, was seen leaving the palace at 2.42pm in a black Mercedes Benz and did not stop to speak to the press.

Media personnel stationed at one of the palace gates did not see Tengku Razaleigh entering the palace. It is believed he had entered through a different entrance.

Checks with police personnel at the palace confirmed that Tengku Razaleigh arrived at 1.20pm to meet the Agong.

Earlier, The Vibes reported that Tengku Razaleigh’s aide confirmed the meeting with Agong.

The aide had said that the meeting was to discuss matters related to the political development in the country.

Anwar, in his 2pm press conference said the Agong would be meeting with all heads of political parties in the coming days to get their feedback.

The PKR president added he has the backing of more than 120 MPs and that the list of names have been submitted to the palace.

Immediately after, the Istana Negara in a statement denied Anwar’s claim, saying the opposition leader did not substantiate his statement.

Some have speculated that Ku Li had obtained majority backing of MPs and that the meeting with the Agong was to inform this.
