KOTA KINABALU – Sabah has disallowed children under the age of 12 in business premises and public facilities, as it tightens standard operating procedures (SOPs) ahead of the total lockdown, which starts tomorrow until June 14.

The Sabah Disaster Management Committee in a statement said inter-district travel will be banned, but movement between Putatan, Penampang and Kota Kinabalu will be allowed.

Only two persons per household will be permitted out to buy essential items, not exceeding a 10km radius, it added.

Under the total lockdown, bus service will be maintained from 6am until 8pm, with 50% capacity, while cross-district express bus and train services will be put on hold.

The committee said small coastal passenger boats are allowed to operate between 6am and 6pm, with 50% capacity.

“Non-conventional ships from Indonesia and the Philippines are not allowed (in), as well as entry by Indonesian fishing boats into Tawau, and other boats from the Philippines into Sabah and Labuan.”

Selected industries are allowed to continue operations from 7am to 7pm, with 60% worker capacity, it added.

This comes after the state government decided to follow the federal directive on the lockdown, which has stricter SOPs.

Sabah has been under a conditional movement control order since April 29.

Social media was abuzz over the possible new SOPs for the past two days.

Yesterday, Sabah recorded 190 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the caseload to 62,037 in the state. – The Vibes, May 31, 2021
