KOTA KINABALU – Sabah has allocated RM154.84 million for Bantuan Sabah Prihatin (BSP 3.0) and food baskets, as well as one-off RM300 cash aid.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor said RM120.47 million will be set aside for the one-off cash aid while RM34.37 million will be used to provide food baskets to 343,665 recipients.

The BSP 3.0 is in addition to the more than RM141.8 million distributed under BSP and BSP 2.0 last year.

“The state cabinet yesterday approved BSP3.0 to complement other assistance by the federal government, such as the RM2.1 billion Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat and the RM1.5 billion Geran Khas Prihatin to SMEs.

“I hope this will help lessen the burden of those affected by the pandemic,” he said after attending a briefing on security management during the movement control order period at the state police headquarters here today.

Hajiji, who is also state finance minister, said aside from the one-off payment, aid will also be provided for public housing residents, as well as private and public university students.

He added that the assistance will be disbursed to target groups through eight ministries, apart from the special task office and Kota Kinabalu City Hall. – The Vibes, June 10, 2021
